“Reviewed By Emily-Jane Hills Orford for Readers’ Favorite

Imagine a land full of candy, where children can enjoy as much candy and sweets as they want, all kinds, all shapes, sizes, and there’s even a chocolate river flowing through its center. Will’s grandmother loves to tell stories of her childhood adventures to a place called Candy Mountain. It’s Will’s favorite bedtime story. And then, one night, Will falls asleep and has his own adventure on Candy Mountain. He meets a new friend, Quinn, and they enjoy exploring the candy village together. Both boys are polite to all they meet and kind to one another. You see, you can enjoy your candy and be kind and courteous, too.

Dr. Gerry Haller’s picture book story, Will’s Adventure to the Candy Mountain, is an entertaining story for young readers. The plot follows Will’s nighttime journey to a magical place where everything is made of candy. He’s allowed to fill a basket full of treats to take home with him. Only, in the excitement and the need to return to the train that will take them home again before it’s too late, Will leaves behind his basket of candy. His new friend, Quinn, offers to share his, but Will declines with a kind message that he has precious memories that are as sweet as the candy they collected. The story is sweet (not candy sweet) and simple, but the message is clear: life is full of sweet offerings, but friendship and kindness are more important than sweet treats. One has to always be courteous. Beautifully told and presented.”
