fuelNew Delhi, Monday, February 16 – Fuel prices dropped a number of times in the past few months, making general public to heave a sigh of relief and get a short breather from shelling out hefty sums on petrol and diesel. However, sudden jump in the rates of fuel on Sunday took people by surprise.

According to the latest reports, following the firming rates of oil worldwide, petrol would now cost price INR 57.31 from today onwards in the national capital for the reason that it mounted by 82 paisa per litre. Besides this, commuters will have to spend 61 paisa extra to get a litre of diesel. INR 46.62 is the price what people will have to pay to keep their diesel vehicles running on the roads without any problem.

The unexpected surge in prices declined the downward trend of the past six months, disappointing the masses to a great extent. “The price of petrol and diesel came into affordable range in the last few months. In fact, it lent a hand to automobile makers to see rise in car and bike selling. Rapid hikes in the cost of fuel is likely to affect buyers’ interest to spend more on 4-wheelers as everyone can’t afford to splurge on petroleum products”, said a young employee at an MNC who is probable to drop the idea of owning another car thanks to unanticipated augment in fuel’s cost without any prior indication.
